This oil painting of Monsal Vale in Derbyshire was painted by me because when I was a child, Derbyshire and Yorkshire were the only holiday places we ever went to. The moment I got there, I never wanted to leave. This painting shows my longing to return to the beautiful countryside, and hills and valleys of the North. The running river chattering along the stoney river bed, brings back so many memories.

I began painting 2 years ago and love doing so. I use oil or watercolour, and have developed my own style which will change over time, giving a freshness to any work.
